    Lab-Grown Emerald's manufacturing methods

    (1) Hydrothermal Method 

    - **Principle**: Simulates the high temperature and high pressure environment deep in the earth's crust to make emerald crystals grow slowly in an autoclave.  

    - **Process**:  

      1. High purity **BeO (Beryllium Oxide), Al₂O₃ (Aluminum Oxide), SiO₂ (Silicon Dioxide)** and a chromogenic agent (Cr/V) are dissolved in an acidic solution.  

      2. molecules from the solution are deposited layer by layer on the seed crystals at **400-600°C and 1000-1500 atmospheres**.  

      3. The growth rate is about **0.5-1mm/day** and complete crystals are obtained after a few weeks to months.

    Lab-Grown Emerald's manufacturing method

    (2) Flux Method  

    - **Principle**: Dissolve the raw material by using high-temperature melting flux (e.g., lithium molybdate), and then precipitate the crystals by slow cooling.  

    - **Process**:  

      1. the raw material is mixed with flux and heated to **800-1200°C** to form a molten state. 2. the temperature is slowly lowered (1-1000°C).  

      2. Slowly cool down (1-5°C/hour) and the emerald crystallizes on the seed crystals.  

      3. Remove residual flux with acid wash, cut and polish.
